David Giertz Gives Back as a Business Coach

David Giertz has over 30 years of executive experience in the financial services industry. Hs served as the President of Nationwide Financial’s Sales and Distribution, the division grew in sales revenue from $11B to $17.8B while under his leadership. He started his employment at Nationwide in 1999.

He attended Millikin University in Decatur, IL, at which he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. He achieved his executive MBA at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He worked nights to help pay for his schooling. In a recent interview, David Giertz recalled that one of his jobs was for a supermarket chain, waxing their floors. late at night. He liked and respected his co-workers.

Before joining Nationwide Financial, David Giertz worked at Citigroup. He began his career at Citi as a financial advisor. From there, he worked his way up to the position of Area Director. He was later appointed Executive Vice President of Sales. David was employed at Citigroup for 10 years.

David Giertz places a great deal of importance on networking. Over the years, he builds a large network a business associates, many of whom have become his friends. He also feels strongly about the importance of having a mentor in business life. David also meets a lot of people as a certified business coach. He ia a part of the World Association of Business Coaches.

He is a certified broker and an investment specialist. He advises on retirement investments and planning. David is also a social security advisor. He has commented that one of the activities he likes to do daily is to listen to the business news. He also enjoys, when business permits, getting in some exercise to energize himself.

David spoke of his mother in a recent interview. She was a nurse, and she had received a scholarship. She worked hard to support her family. One of the pieces of advice she gave David was to learn something new everyday, and he follows her advice. David and his wife have set up a scholarship fund, for the benefit of nursing students at Millikin University.

The self-described shy introvert is rumored to only have a closet full of black clothing. This rumor was dispelled by her personal assistant who said she occasionally wears navy blue. She does not bring dramatic flair to the jobs she works, but she does bring a creative environment full of innovation.

The CEO is gaining a reputation of being brought into an agency in transition. At KBS, she came into the agency when the original owners were leaving. Her challenge was to capture the imagination of the current employees and clients. She did so resoundingly well. And now she is at CP+B doing the exact same thing.
